    The main function of polyaluminum chloride (PAC) is as a water treatment agent, used to purify drinking water, industrial water and sewage treatment. ‌
 
    Polyaluminum chloride is an inorganic polymer coagulant, its chemical formula is [Al2(OH)nCl6-n]m, where m represents the degree of polymerization, n represents the neutral degree of PAC product. The role of PAC is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
 
‌1. Water purification effect ‌ : PAC can effectively remove suspended matter, color, SS, COD, BOD and arsenic, mercury and other heavy metal ions in water, suitable for raw water treatment of various turbidity, pH application range is wide, non-corrosive to pipeline equipment, water purification effect is obvious.
 
‌2. Flocculation precipitation ‌ : PAC has strong bridging adsorption performance. In the hydrolysis process, physical and chemical processes such as condensation, adsorption and precipitation occur, forming large and dense alum flowers with fast settling speed and low turbidity of effluent.
 
‌3. Sewage treatment ‌ : PAC is widely used in drinking water, industrial water and sewage treatment fields, suitable for urban water supply and drainage purification, industrial water supply purification, urban sewage treatment, industrial waste water and waste residue in the recovery of useful substances.
 
‌4. Phosphorus removal ‌ : In the sewage treatment, PAC reacts with phosphate ions to form insoluble salt, and further forms flocculation through hydrolysis reaction to achieve chemical phosphorus removal.
 
‌5. Other applications ‌ : PAC is also used in precision casting, medicine, paper making, rubber, leather, petrochemical, dye and other industries, as water treatment agent or cosmetics raw materials.
 
In summary, as an efficient water treatment agent, polyaluminum chloride plays an important role in drinking water purification and industrial wastewater treatment due to its high efficiency, safety and environmental protection characteristics.
